Tuolumne River Loop Hike

“This trail is an easy loop that traverses both the Dana & Lyell Forks of the Tuolumne River and provides great scenic views.

You'll need to leave pups at home — dogs aren't allowed on this trail.”

How long is this hike?

This hike is a nice and easy 3.6 mile loop without too much elevation gain.

How do I get there?

To start the hike, you can park in the Dog Lake parking lot on Tuolumne Medaows Lodge Road and begin at the John Muir Trail trailhead across the road. Following the trail signs, you first cross Dana Fork and then Lyell Fork, hike along the river westward to the Tuolumne Meadows campground, cross the river again on Tioga Road and hike along the river eastward back to the parking lot.

Are dogs allowed?

No, dogs are not allowed on this trail.
